WEEK 6-BLOG Risk Management in Projects https://www.istockphoto.com/photo/businesspeople-arguing-in-meeting-gm519407057-50047210               In the past, I was put on a project team by the President of a college I was once employed to. This team was designated to create promotional media intended for recruitment.  Although I had prior experience consulting on multimedia projects, he assigned the project management and instructional design responsibility to a less experienced faculty member due to the deep-set culture of nepotism that existed in that country and institution. Being an expatriate on contract in a foreign country, I understood how important it was to observe not only the culture of the country but the organizational culture as well.  Therefore I contributed where asked and left the leadership of the project to the multimedia designer and the appointed  PM.  After the deliverables were submitted for approval to t...

WEEK 4 BLOG https://www.projectmanager.com/guides/project-scheduling ( 2023)            In review of the following websites included below and in the reference, I found them particularly useful in defining and explaining how to determine both the use of resources and the duration of tasks in the project schedule.       The websites below were particularly useful in informing prospective PMs how to estimate resource allocation  in Project Management:  Website: https://nulab.com/learn/project-management/six-strategies-for-estimating-resources-like-a-pro/      According to (projectmanagement.com 2023), a project schedule is a timetable where tasks, resources, and due dates are organized in sequential order to ensure that the project is completed on time. It is created during the planning phase and includes an itemized list of the tasks needed to create deliverables, the team members responsible for each task, the st...
WEEK 3 BLOG The Art of Effective Communication.”  How did your interpretation of the message change from one modality to the next? Although the message was the same content, the mode of delivery influenced its interpretation and urgency.  The email message seemed a little sarcastic at the beginning when the sender said you are probably ‘in that all-day meeting ‘ instead of saying that ‘you might be busy in meetings today, however’, I think how you phrase or construct a written message can impact the receiver, so one should be careful not to use words whose tone or attitude may be misconstrued or ambiguous.  However, I interpreted the message in the audio format to be more friendly based on the tone, as while it was urgent, it wasn’t aggressive or sarcastic.  In the video message, the interpretation of the message was more personable as it combined audio and visual elements like tone, gestures, and attitude were communicated using body language. According to Sto...

Week 2  Project Post Mortem Photo by  Annie Spratt  on  Unsplash           The project I would like to reflect on is the e-Learning Jamaica Project where   Zed Jamaica, where I worked as a consultant, won the tender for the development of two educational courses. In this project, the organization was subcontracted to create online lessons in math and science for secondary schools throughout the island for grades 10 and 11 in preparation for regional standardized examinations. These standardized exams are quite important to that culture since passing five or more subjects serves as a desirable entry requirement for employment and a mandatory requirement for college admission.  The underperformance of students in math and science was of particular concern for the Ministry of Education (Department of Education) and its Minister of government, and so a hefty budget was allocated to address that concern on a national bas...

Thoughts on the Course

REFLECTION   While I have come to the end of this course, I would like to take some time to reflect on my takeaways. In this course, I practiced and implemented the ADDIE process and planned corporate training in Supervisory Management using the Canvas Course Management System.   In addition, I learned about storyboarding and structuring online learning courses according to the various learning theories and multimedia principles to avoid and reduce cognitive load.  I also learned that the course design, learning experiences, and assessment have to be aligned with the course outcomes and objectives and that the content has to be segmented and arranged sequentially for deep learning to occur.  I have also come to understand the importance of designing with the students’ availability and access to technology in mind and the importance of creating technology orientation prior to the commencement of the first modules to equip learners for success in the course...
